1969 Ford F-350 Crash Truck
Our first utility truck, called a crash truck at the time, was this 1969 Ford F-350 with dual rear wheels (no 4-wheel drive), a gas-powered engine, 4-speed manual transmission, and a utility body. It was equipped with an electric generator, scene lighting (obtained from World War II surplus), tools, Indian tanks and brooms (for extinguishing brush fires), ventilation and salvage equipment, and our first hydraulic extrication tool. It remained in service until 2007, and then became part of the fleet of the Department of Public Works.
